Random Philosophy

Ok, so the first thing I wanted to do, is post these random sayings that I really like. There are so many out there, and the bonus is that they mean different things to different people. If you have anymore, please feel free to send them to me - the more the better I say!

· There are certain mistakes we enjoy so much we are always willing to repeat them.
· Tis with our judgements as watches, none go just alike, yet each believes his own.
· Sometimes two goldfish in a bowl are enough.
· The loss of a thing affects us until we have lost it altogether.
· No snowflake in an avalanche ever feels responsible.
· Knowledge may have it’s purposes, but guessing is always more fun than knowing.
· Life is like playing a violin solo in public and learning the instrument as one goes along.
· I have often been forced to my knees by the overwhelming conviction that there was no place else to go.
· Different sects like different clock may all be near the matter, ‘tho none quite agree.
· The difference between a rut and a grave is the depth.
· You are a victim of the rules you live by.
· An original writer is not one who imitates nobody, but one whom nobody can imitate.
· One can only become a philosopher, not be one. As soon as one thinks one is a philosopher one stops becoming one.
· If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however measured or far away.
· Honour thy error as a hidden intention.
· He who stands on tiptoe does not stand firm; he who takes the longest strides does not walk the fastest.
· Fewer things are harder to put up with than the annoyance of a good example.
· Your worst enemy cannot harm you as much as your thoughts, unguarded. But once mastered, no one can help you as much.
· The heart of a fool is in his mouth, but the mouth of a wise man is in his heart.
· Its déjà vu all over again.
· Self evident, adj. Evident to ones self and nobody else.
· One cannot step into the same river, for the water in which you first stepped has flown on.
· The art of being a slave is to rule one’s master.
· Nothing is sufficient for the man to whom sufficient is too little.
· Do not regard as valuable anything that can be taken away.
· Whatever can happen at any time can happen today.
· Misfortune, n. The kind of fortune that never misses.
· What is yours is to play the assigned part well. But to choose it belongs to someone else.
· What upsets people is not the things themselves but the judgements about things.
· The man who is happy is not he who is believed to be so but he who believes he is so.
· Upon the highest throne in the world, we are still seated, upon our arses.
· Be slow and sure. Things are done quickly enough if done well. If quickly done they can be quickly undone. To last an eternity requires an eternity of preparation.
· Pity is often feeling our sufferings in those of others.

· The first half of live consists of the capacity to enjoy without the chance; the last half consists of the chance without the capacity.
· Celebrity: the advantage of being known by people who do not know you.
· The fly that does not want to be swatted is safest if it sits on the fly-swat.
· It is impossible to carry the torch of truth through a crowd without singeing someone’s beard
· He whom you cannot teach to fly, teach to fall faster!
· One re-pays a teacher badly if one always remains nothing but a pupil.
· It is hard for an empty sack to stand upright.
